Hi everyone. My name is Katie, and I'm your basic nerdy nature dweller. I think there's nothing better for the soul than digging around in the dirt. But I'm also a nerd who loves the dark, cool embrace of a climate-controlled house, preferably with an amazing entertainment set-up, quality selection of dvds, a warm Nintendo, and boxes and boxes of Dots candy. I'm also a mom to a feisty dragon-like 2 year-old girl named Lily. I married to another nerd who specializes in Magic cards and D&D. Together we devour piles of books, and enjoy endless television and movies and order takeout food whenever we can. I have a professional background as a garden writer and editor, and currently spend most of my time working on freelance jobs at Mahalo.com, and serving as a secretary and newsletter editor for the Lions Club district in my area--both very fulfilling enterprises that fill up most of my free moments.

 

Yikes! McDonald's Recalls Shrek Glasses

McDonald's just announced the recall of millions of Shrek promotional drinking glasses after figuring out they were tainted with cadmium! http://bit.ly/amJ0QJ Being that Shrek Forever After is a children's movie, it's unsettling to think about how many kids drank their morning juice out of those glasses. And this time we can't blame China--the glasses were made right here in the USA. Funny thing, of all the gross green-colored products and foodstuffs out there (like booger-ish Twinkies), I would not have guessed some cheap glasswear would be the most foul. Boooo, McDonald's!
